As a new parent to SLDS who had heard great things but never experienced them firsthand, I was excited and grateful to see that their first invited guest for Parent Coffee was an SLP from a speech and language therapy practice. I have a child with speech delays and have been craving knowledge about practical ways and tools to incorporate speech development into everyday life. Nikki was a treasure trove of ideas. Being a parent herself, she had both "textbook" answers and let's be real answers. She was able to give thoughtful responses to an array of questions. When I asked her specifically about my child's situation, she pulled on her experience and knowledge to give me an idea of different possibilities and reasons for why certain things could be happening.
